About the Teachers

Nightingale believes that quality is best achieved by recognizing the skills and expertise of qualified and trained staff. There is a strong commitment to their personal and professional development. Nightingale teachers are continually striving to improve the experiences offered to children in order for them to learn and develop throughout their early years.

About the Director/Teacher

Tronie Brown

(Director, Tronie Brown is pictured with some of her friends - in case of doubt, Tronie is the second person from the left!)

Tronie was born in England and spent much of her youth in Kenya, East Africa. She has travelled extensively and worked in South Africa, England and Germany.

She received her Montessori Diploma in 1991 and in 1994 she moved to Germany and taught 2 ½ to 5 year-olds in an English Preschool. Tronie later took on the management position and then became the Director. She left Germany for Victoria in 2000 and married her husband, Ian.

Tronie received her Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate in September, 2002 and worked for a year with the 3 to 4 year-olds at the University of Victoria Child Care services.

Tronie opened Nightingale Preschool and Junior Kindergarten in January 2003.

Rebecca Lambert

Rebecca Lambert

Teacher, Rebecca Lambert

I was born in Scotland and brought up in West Africa where I developed a true understanding of the importance of a good education as it functions not only to support subject knowledge, but also to develop children’s emotional & social skills. I was introduced to early years education for 3 to 7 years olds when I completed my PGCE teacher training in England and then gained experience managing my own classroom in London.

As a teacher I see myself as making a contribution to the well-being & development of others. I believe part of developing an effective programme is by understanding the procedure for assessment, monitoring, evaluation & setting suitable targets for children & feeding this back into the planning, by maintaining a flexible approach.

I hope to bring my sound knowledge of the foundation stage curriculum to Nightingale Preschool and Junior Kindergarten, where children are encouraged to be life long learners through a fun, cross curricula and creative program.
